BIOTECHNOLGY OR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY?
It’s the admission time and anxious students are just wondering which group in Engineering to take! A cousin of mine, who recently completed her twelfth standard, came to me for guidance. She was confused as to what to take. She had read in a Science and Technology news that biotechnology was the best option available as it would help the students to get a job easily. So she asked me if she could take that! In some Technology tips and tricks that I had come across, I had read that Hardware Technology has the maximum scope .So I suggested her to take up Information Technology. Having scored 90 percentages in her twelfth, she was confused to decide her major group!
Then, I sat with her and clearly explained the options she had and the recent trends. Nowdays, people, irrespective of their departments get placed in a software company. So it doesn’t really matter as to what group she takes. However, if she is very career oriented and wants to make a mark in whatever field she takes, then she must take a field of her choice. A field that interests her the most! I then asked her, what subject interests her the most? English came the instant reply? Then why don’t you want to take up Journalism? She said that her mother had compelled her to take up Engineering! Dumbstruck, I advised her to take some thing she is interested in and not what her mother is interested in! Thanks to my timely advise, that girl is now pursuing what her true passion lies in!
